It’s important to understand that hospice care goes beyond just end-of-life care. Hospice care is designed to provide compassionate and supportive care to individuals who have a terminal illness, typically with a life expectancy of six months or less. However, we don’t have the ability to determine how long someone is going to live. At Blue Water Hospice, we work in collaboration with medical providers and families to determine if patients are appropriate for hospice and meet the requirements for Medicare-covered hospice care.
Medicare recognizes that it is difficult to predict an exact timeframe for someone’s life expectancy, and therefore, the six-month timeframe is not a strict limit. If your loved ones condition remains terminal and they continue to meet the hospice eligibility requirements, Medicare allows for hospice care to be provided for an extended period.
Blue Water Hospice offers a comprehensive approach to supporting patients and their families through all stages of a life-limiting illness.
